B.Tech Admissions 2009-10 SASTRA Thanjavur, Tamilnadu

SASTRA UNIVERSITY (A University established under section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956) Thanjavur – 613 402. Tamilnadu announce admissions to B.Tech. Program

70% of the total seats will be filled by SASTRA based on the qualifying +2 exam marks following the process of normalization. To bring all candidates from different examining Authorities /b Boards in the same scale of comparison and to create a list in the order of merit, the +2 marks will be normalized. A first rank student of each board is considered to have obtained 100% mark and aggregate mark of all other students of the board are normalized with reference to that of the first rank student. For example, if the first rank is 97% and an applicant’s aggregate is 90% then the applicant’s normalized percentage is 92.78 (90/97 x 100). A merit list is drawn based on the normalized percentage for making admissions. The remaining 30% of the seats will be filled by CBSE based on the AIEEE-2009 ranks.

Eligibility for SASTRA B.Tech programmes

A pass in the +2 examination with Mathematics & Physics as compulsory subjects with either Chemistry / Bio-Technology / Computer Science / Biology and recognized by any State Board / Central Board or any other accepted by SASTRA as equivalent to 10+2 examination, with a minimum aggregate of 60% marks in

Maths, Physics and Chemistry / Bio-Technology / Computer Science / Biology obtained in a single sitting.

This eligibility criteria is prescribed by AICTE for all Engineering programmes in India. A Students without Maths or Physics in +2 will not be considered for admission to B.Tech. programmes.

Eligibility for vocational students is based on the theory subjects taken

Students with diploma in Engineering / Technology are eligible for direct admission to the second year of the relevant B.Tech. Programme

Age limit for SASTRA B.Tech programmes: Cannot be more than 19 years as on July 1, 2009

IIT Roorkee invites Applications from GATE qualified candidates for admission to the Postgraduate programmes leading to M.Tech./M.Arch./M.U.R.P.

Admission will be made on the basis of either GATE percentile only or GATE percentile and Interview/Written Test. For Sponsored candidates the admission will be on the basis of Interview/Written Test and relevant experience. There will be cut offs for calling the candidates for Interview/Written Test and/or for preparing merit list for different programmes for different categories of candidates.

Full/ Part Time Ph.D Admissions at IIT Roorkee Autumn Semester 2009-10

Application Form and other details for admission to Ph.D. programmes of Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) in the Autumn Semester of the Session 2009-10 can be downloaded from the Institute website www.iitr.ernet.in .

The Application Form for IIT Roorkee Ph.D Programmes can also be obtained from the “Chairman, PG Admission, IIT Roorkee, Roorkee-247667” by sending a written request and a DD of Rs. 50/-. The filled Application Form may be sent to the “Chairman, PG Admission, IIT Roorkee, Roorkee- 247667”, along with a Demand Draft of Rs. 200/- drawn in favour of “Chairman, PG Admission, IIT Roorkee” payable at Roorkee.

Last date for receipt of filled Application Form for IIT Roorkee Ph.D. programmes is April 23, 2009.

RMAT 2009 AIMA Distance Ph.D Entrance Exam

The All India Management Association (AIMA) an apex body of professional management with active support of the Government of India and Industry in 1957, offers PhD in Business Administration Programme for working professionals.

PG Graduates or Professionals with 5 years of work experience can apply.

NTSE 2009 – Scheme Changes and Modifications

Please note that the following changes have been made in the SAT and MAT for National Talent Search Examination (NTSE 2009) onwards.

• The SAT and MAT will have 100 items each in place of 90 items given in the NTS Scheme.
• Each question will carry 1 mark. The total marks will be 100 for each test.
• Minimum qualifying marks will be 40% i.e. 40 marks for general category.
• Minimum qualifying marks for reserved categories will be 32% i.e. 32 marks.
• The duration of the tests will remain the same i.e. 90 minutes each.
• For first 90 questions in both SAT and MAT, the candidates have to put a cross mark (X) on the number of the correct alternative on the answer sheet against the corresponding question. For questions 91-100, the answers are to be written in the given space in the answer sheet.
• In SAT the first 90 items are divided into three areas – 35 for Science, 20 for Mathematics and 35 for Social Science. However, no separate sections are given in the test. The last 10 questions are mixed from different subjects.

B.Sc. Economics – Symbiosis School of Economics – Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET 2009)

Symbiosis School of Economics invites applications for B.Sc. Economics Program 2009 Session.

Eligibility for admission (Indian Students)

  • XII pass from any branch with minimum 50% marks for the general category and 45% for students of SC and ST category.
  • Qualifying the Symbiosis Entrance Test(SET) and group discussion and personal interview of the School.

Symbiosis Entrance test

1. All the Indian students are required to take the Symbiosis Entrance Test(SET). SET is an examination that students must take to be eligible to seek admission to the degree programmes of Symbiosis International University (SIU). Even those who wish to apply for Management quota subsequently will have to take the entrance test. Without this test the no student is entitled to admission to any course of SIU.

2. Since the degree programmes are offered under different faculties of SIU, the appropriate category of the SET must be given.
