IIIM Jammu- walk-in interview for UGC NET JRF Cleared candidates for Ph.D Positions

Director, Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (IIIM), Jammu  invites applications for walk-in interview on 19^th & 20^th June 2009 from motivated candidates, who have passed M.Sc. and cleared CSIR/UGC NET, DBT JRF examination or ICMR JRF examination for Ph.D. Programme of the institute. IIIM(J) is a constituent laboratory of CSIR and a multi-disciplinary institute with modern state of the art research facilities, experienced faculty with particular interests in the new drug discovery from the natural products, pharmacology, biology & biotechnology. The applicants may be placed in any of the specialized areas mentioned below.

Natural Product Chemistry: Isolation of new chemical entities and phyto-pharmaceuticals, isolation synthesis and medicinal chemistry of natural products, study of their biology/ pharmacology. Pharmacology: General pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, drug metabolism and prospecting for different biological activities of natural products and their synthetic derivatives, cell biology and immunology, vaccine development and mechanistic studies. Bio-organic Chemistry: Enzymes and their application in chemical transformations, fermentation technology and production of high value products by green chemistry and resolution of racemic drugs intermediates, exploration of microbial diversity particularly extromophiles and novel expression systems. Bioinformatics: Computer aided 3D structure elucidation, QSAR model development mechanistic and insilico studies. Biotechnology: Microbial and plant biotechnology, metabolic engineering of biosynthetic pathways in plants, bacteria and fungi. Medicinal & Aromatic Plants: Agrotechnology and bioprospecting of medicinal & aromatic plants, cultivation of endangered and commercial plant varieties.

Eligibility and Selection: Candidates with masters or equivalent degree in any of the branches of science (Chemistry, Life Sciences, Botany, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Biotechnology, Pharmacy, Physiology or in Chemical or Biochemical Engineering), who are qualified to receive Junior Research Fellowship after passing CSIR/UGC NET, DBT JRF Examination (A category) are eligible to be interviewed. No TA/DA or any other expenses shall be paid for appearing in the interview.

Age limit: 28 years (age relaxation is applicable to SC/ST and OBC candidates as per Govt. of India rules).

Accommodation: Successful candidates will be provided hostel accommodation in the campus during  their Ph. D. tenure.

M.Sc. (Biochemistry) Admissions at School of Biochemistry, DAVV Indore

School of Biochemistry Devi Ahilya University, Indore runs the M.Sc. (Biochemistry) course of two years duration split in four semesters including the project work in the last semester. The curriculum designing has wide applicability to various disciplines, which require biochemistry background. The syllabus covers all the major areas of Biochemistry including basic, advanced as well as specialized courses. Biochemistry is mainly a research field and after post graduation the student have opportunity to join Ph.D. programmes and may find openings in pharmaceutical and food industries, bioinformatics, medical field etc.

For admission to M. Sc Biochemistry course, application forms will be available from the school on payment of Rs 400/- in the form of demand draft in favour of “Registrar, Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore”. The application forms may also be downloaded from the web site : www.dauniv.ac.in. The downloaded forms should be accompanied with a demand draft of Rs. 300/- in favour of “Registrar, Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore”. The last date for submission of completed form to the Head, School of Biochemistry is 25 June 2009. The entrance test will be conducted by the school on 4 July 2009 at 11 am.

Eligibility

The Science graduates with chemistry and any two of biology subjects, such as,

Botany, Zoology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology etc. and having minimum 55 % marks in aggregate of three years are eligible for admission to the course (50 % for SC/ST). The candidate must submit photocopies of all the marksheets, otherwise the candidature will not be considered.
