JIPMER Pondicherry – Post Doctoral Admissions 2009

Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) announces admission tot the following programmes

DM Neonatology

DM Neurology

DM Clinical Immunology

DM Clinical Pharmacology and

Post Doctoral Fellowship in Diabetology

Candidate must possess a degree in M.D. from a University or DNB recognized as equivalent thereto by the MCI, in the respective discipline

Method of Selection :

Selection for D.M. Courses are made through a 2-Stage performance evaluation

Stage I  (400 marks) :

Written Test with question paper consisting of 100 multiple choice questions (MCQ). Each correct answer will be awarded 4 marks. For each wrong answer one mark will be deducted. If more than one answer is marked , it will be treated as wrong answer and given negative marks.

•        For DM (Neonatology) : MCQs will be distributed as 40 in General Pediatrics and 60 in Neonatology.

•        For DM (Neurology) : MCQs will be distributed as 20 in General Medicine, 20 in General Pediatrics and 60 in Neurology.

•        For DM (Clinical Immunology) : MCQs will be distributed as 20 in General Medicine, 20 in General Pediatrics and 60 in Immunology.

•        For DM (Clinical Pharmacology) : MCQs will be 20 in General Medicine, 20 in General Pediatrics and 60 in Pharmacology.

•        For Fellowship in Diabetology : MCQs will be 40 in General Medicine and 60 in Diabetology.

Stage II (80 marks) :

Out of the candidates who secure 50% of marks or above in the Written test (Stage I), Candidates 5 times the number of seats advertised will be called for interview assessment by the Selection Committee, duly constituted for the purpose, on the next working day.

•        No individual intimation will be sent regarding result of Stage I. It will be displayed on the Notice Board of Academic Section / JIPMER Website.

•        Candidates who fail to attend any of the 2 Stages mentioned above or secure less than 50% of marks in either stage will not be eligible for admission.

Diploma Course in Railway Engineering from TIPWE(India)

The Institution of Permanent Way Engineers (India) organises a Diploma Course in ‘Railway Engineering’ for the Railwaymen as well as for the outsiders to update their knowledge of Railway Engineering.

The Diploma Course in Railway Engineering consists of two Semesters of six months each.

Ministry of Railways have extended certain incentives viz. in the case of Railway employees who possess Diploma Certificate in Railway Engineering will be considered additional qualification for promotion to Selection posts in Group ‘C’ category.

In the case of outsiders, the Railway Ministry has decided that passing of Diploma Course will be considered as an additional qualification for recruitment to various technical posts of Railways by Railway Recruitment Boards.


Admissions for the current session will commence from Ist April 2009 and the last date for submission of applications is 31st August 2009.

IIM CAT 2009 Nature and Type of Exam Important Points

Some important updates are available about the nature and type of exam. As some expected, CAT 2009 is not going to be an Internet Based Test (IBT), but it will be a Computer Based Test (CBT),.  means, the student cannot open a website and write exam by sitting at the comfort of his home, Instead, he need to walk in into the designated test venues in about 25-30 cities across India

The only difference between the previous CAT exams is, Instead of reading the questions in a paper booklet and darkening the ovals on the answer-sheet, a candidate will read the questions on a computer terminal and choose an answer by clicking on the correct option

The format of the test will remain more or less the same.


Doing Rough Work

The candidates will be provided with a writing pad with numbered pages for calculations. After the test, candidate must leave the pad including all the pages in it at the desk. Rough-work cannot be done on any other paper/sheet as nothing will be allowed to be taken inside the test hall.

Registering For CAT

This time there is no Bulky CAT Bulletins.. They want to go paperless.. A prospective candidate buys a scratch-voucher from the designated bank branches, and, later registers online for CAT 2009. The Voucher bought by the candidate gives instructions on how to register for CAT 2009.

Admit Card

After you fill-in, review, and submit the registration information during online registration, you will receive an email containing your Admit Card

Important Dates:

CAT Advertisement will appear in leading newspapers on Sunday, 30 August 2009.

Sale of vouchers starts on Wednesday, 9 September 2009 at designated bank branches and their associate outlets. The sale ends on Thursday, 1 October 2009.

CAT will be held during the period Saturday, 28 November 2009 – Monday, 7 December 20009.

You can choose a test date, session (morning/afternoon), and venue across thirty centres (cities) all over India, subject to availability.

Ph.D Admissions for ME/ M.Tech Holders at Bhabha Institute (HBNI), Mumbai

Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI) is a Deemed University comprising of four R&D Centres and six grant-in-aid institutions of the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) as its Constituent Institutions (CIs). The R&D Centres which are CIs of HBNI are

JMET 2010 Dates Announced

Joint Management Entrance Test (JMET) is the Admission Test for Management PG Programmes in Indian Institute of Technologies and Some other prominent Institutes like IISc and NIT Calicut.
