Various universities in India offer a range of undergraduate courses in geology. Apart from this the earth sciences department at the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) offers M.Sc level courses in applied geology and applied geophysics.
A course in geology includes subjects such as environmental geology, hydrogeology, geology of coal and petroleum, basin analysis, geomathematics, resources and management, mineral exploration and geotechnical engineering among others.
