University of Southampton’s Winchester School of Art is inviting applications for its new MA Global Media Management commencing in September 2012. The MA in Global Media Management is designed to bring together the analytical and practical skills required to succeed in communications and media management roles in international public communications.
This MA pathway explores the possibilities and challenges thrown up by global media organisations, global public institutions and global networks. With governments, NGOs and social enterprises having to work globally and looking to use network technologies and services as a way of delivering information, building relationships and delivering services, there is a demand for analytical and practical skills. The MA in Global Media Management equips you with these skills to deal with these different facets of the role of a global media manager.
Core modules make use of a range of learning, teaching and assessment methods based around a core of lectures, supervisions, workshops, research skill inductions, seminars, group projects, tutorials, visiting lecturers, demonstrations and private research, experimentation and study. In addition, the course makes extensive use of social media tools to support teaching and learning.
Applications are encouraged from a wide variety of disciplines, including marketing, media studies, politics, development studies and international relations. This pathway is open to management based students without an arts portfolio or to students from arts, humanities, social sciences, engineering and science backgrounds. Candidates having a good honours degree (2:2 or above) in a relevant subject or an equivalent qualification in an appropriate discipline are eligible for the programme.
The fee for students for the 2012-2013 session is £12,500. Candidates are recommended to apply before 30th June. More information about the programme can be found at: www.southampton.ac.uk/wsa/postgraduate/taught_courses/ma_global_media_management.page?
