Training is the process through which employees are made capable of doing the job prescribed to them. According to Flippo,:"Training is the act increasing the knowledge and skill of an employee for doing a particular job." According to Dale Yoder, "Training is the process by which man-power is filled for the particular jobs it is to perform." According to Beach, "Training is the organised procedure by which people learn knowledge and skills for a definite purpose."
The purpose of training is to achieve a change in the behaviour of those trained and to enable them to do their jobs in a better way. The trainees will acquire new manipulative skills, technical knowledge, problem solving ability or attitudes etc. Training is net a one-step process but it is a continuous or never- ending process. Training makes newly recruited workers fully productive in the minimum of time. Even for old workers, training is necessary to refresh them and enable them to keep up with new methods and techniques. In short, training is the act of improving or updating the knowledge and skill of an employee for performing a particular job.
