What are the different types of Personnel Research?

There are two types of personnel research: (1) Basic or Exploratory (2) Operational or Applied.
Basic research is generally carried on in universities, colleges etc. to develop the various theories and discovery of knowledge.
Operational research is directed towards the solution of particular business problems.
