For SET Paper I is common for all and it consists of two parts, namely, general knowledge and aptitude in teaching.
Paper II will be a test on the subject of specialisation at the master's degree level.

The duration of the test will be 120 minutes for each paper.
There will be 120 questions for paper I and 120 questions for paper II and each questions carrying one mark each. However for mathematics/ statistics there shall be only 80 questions carrying 1.5 marks each.
The questions of both the papers shall be objective multiple-choice in nature and based on single response. For every incorrect answer, one-fourth marks will be deducted from the total marks scored, in the paper valuation.
To pass in the SET, a candidate must score at least 35 per cent marks in paper I and paper II separately and 50 per cent marks in aggregate.
