The School of the Arts at UK based Loughborough University has started inviting applications for its undergraduate programme in Graphic Communication and Illustration (BA Hons). The School is one of the premier Art Institutions in the UK and the course itself has a reputation of producing design graduates who can visually solve problems for a changing world.
This three year programme has been designed with the aim of enabling students to explore the fundamentals of Graphic Communication and Illustration. It provides students the opportunity to develop a range of creative idea-generating and visualisation skills, exploring the right approach to connect with different markets (commercial, social, political or environmental). It encourages them to develop both individual leadership and team-working skills that map onto the current and future demands of industry.
Through this course, the students would be able to think how design can make a positive difference to everyday life and to design solutions with flair, creativity and enterprise. Further, between Year 2 and Year 3, the students also have the opportunity to spend an optional year out undertaking either an industrial training placement, leading to the supplementary award of a Diploma in Professional Studies (DPS) or a foreign university placement, leading to a Diploma in International Studies (DintS).
It is preferred that applicants have completed a post A-level pre-degree course prior to entry; BTEC Foundation Diploma or BTEC Extended Diploma etc. However, 'direct entry' applications i.e. direct from A-level study are also considered. A typical offer in this instance would be a minimum of 320 tariff points from 3 A-levels, excluding General Studies. Please note that applicants whose predicted grades fall significantly short of this minimum requirement may not be invited to submit work for assessment.
Application must be made through the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS) and further details can be obtained at www.ucas.com. The programme commences in September 2013and the closing date for application is January 15, 2013. The fee structure for the BA (Hons) programme is £16,750. The University also offers scholarship to the value of 25% of the programme tuition fee for international students applying for the course. All applications must be made online through the Universities and College Admissions Service (UCAS- http://www.ucas.com/).
