Group cohesiveness is the degree of unity within the group. The more united the group, the greater is the likelihood that all members will conform strictly to group standard and leadership will represent without challenging the feelings of all members. Cohesive groups are more powerful and are more likely to act in unison when their expectations do not come to be realised.
According to Likert, "Cohesiveness is the attractiveness of the members to the group or resistance of the members to leaving it."
