AMIE qualified candidates are also eligible. Those who have passed sections A and B of the examination of the Institution of Engineers India are eligible to apply for the Engineering Services Examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The upper age limit is 30 years, relaxable up to five years for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes and three years for Other Backward Communities. The AMIE qualification is considered equivalent to BE/B.Tech. Degree .
Recruitment, based on this examination, will be made to services/posts in civil, mechanical, electrical and electronics and telecommunication engineering categories. Job opportunities are in Indian Railway Service of Engineers, Indian Railway Stores Services, Central Engineering Services, Military Engineer Services, Central Water Engineering Services, Central Power Engineering Services, Indian Ordnance Factories services and so on.
