Hi
am from chennai finished my MBBS in MMC chennai 2010.
Looking to do my Master in Applied Nutrition as am more keen in subject of nutrition.
Was searching for colleges with moderated fee structure and less span of course. I was much interested in National institute of nutrition Msc App Nut Course coz of less time course duration and am applying for it.
I am really confused with courss time and few other questions

1. I heard its the msc appnutriton course is 9 month duration but now the prospectus in the website says 2 yrs. Please let me know what is actual duration of course ?
http://www.icmr.nic.in/000268/000229/nin...in_course1

2. Can u recommended a High Valued Post graduate course in Nutrition after my MBBS Degree which would be useful in my career as a doctor ?

3. Whether i can opt for full time or distance or online? Would be glad if u advice on this... Am staying in chennai , is there any universities offering masters degree in chennai??

YOur Help will be much Appreciated and i wud be grateful to your reply.
Thanks

Hello

Thank you for your question

To the best of my knowledge there is no 9 month duration course for M.Sc.Applied Nutrion Since it is a masters program, it needs 2 years of study...
As far as Nutrition is concerned, NIN is the best... Its PG is the most valued..

Manipal University is also offering a similar program..visit

In Chennai the best institute is Sri Ramachandra University visit www.srmc.edu

If you are serious about ur career, forget the distance programs

Your opinion on doing Post Graduate Masters Degree in Applied Nutrition to set my career as Dietitian after my MBBS

But I am coming across many negative influences from my friends asking me to go for specialities like me, surg instead of nutrition as Nutrition may not be high valued degree that doctors should choose

am confused

kindly advice

Hi

In present conditions, what your friends saying is true. PG in nutrition is having less credibility compared to a surgical PG because this PG is not exclusively meant for mbbs graduates. Other science stream graduates can also do this course. in the other hand surgical and other medical PG program are only for mbbs graduates and attract more pay.

One advantage of Nutrition pg is its cost of study is very much lower than medical PG programs
