What are the different types of internal sources used for recruitment?

(1) Promotion—Promotion means shifting of an employee to a higher position carrying higher responsibilities, facilities, status and salaries. Various positions in an organisation are usually filled up by promotion of existing employees on the basis of merit or seniority or a combination of these.

(2) Transfer-Transfer refers to a change in job assignment. It may involve a promotion or demotion, or no change in terms of responsibility and status. A transfer may be either temporary or permanent, depending on the necessity of filling jobs. Promotion involves upward mobility while transfer refers to a horizontal mobility of employees.
