What are the importance of interview for selecting employees in an organisation?

(1) Selection of a suitable candidate—Interview is considered to be the most satisfactory way of judging mental qualities. It decides whether the qualities possessed by him make him suitable for the job.

(2) Verification of Facts—The employer has an opportunity to verify the facts mentioned in the Application Blank by the candidate himself. The interviewer may seek clarification regarding informations given in Application Blank.

(3) Collection of Information—Interview is a tool to seek information about the candidate which is not mentioned in the Application Blank or tested by any test. Interviewer may collect various relevant information regarding the candidate.

(4) Knowledge about enterprise—Interview makes the candidate 1 now about the policies and objectives of the organisation. Interviewee is also given a chance to ask questions.

(5) Advice and opinions—Interview can help the interviewer getting advice from and opinions of the interviewees for the problem from different angles and thus their cooperation may sought.
