Doing Masters in US after Graduating in India
#1
My daughter will be completing her 12th standard in April 2015. She intends to do her graduation in Psychology.

We understand that doing psychology in the US would be advantageous. However, given that she is still young and we have no one in the US, we advised her to do her masters in the US and her undergraduate course in India.

The problem we have is that the US requires a 4 year course as a pre-requisite to doing the masters. As the courses in India are all of 3 years, we do not know how to get her to do the extra year to qualify for the masters program. The only other option is to send her to the US for her under graduate course.

Can you please advise?

Thanks,

Hello, you have given a good suggestion to your daughter. Yes, you are right that to pursue master's degree in the US, 4 year course is required, which makes if 16 years of formal education. In this case, what you can do is tell your daughter to do one year diploma or certificate program after graduation. This way your daughter can apply for master's program in the US.
