i would like to know on the career prospects of a textile designer

There are many avenues and opportunities open to a textile designer. They can opt for a career in an export house, a textile mill or even a manufacturing and processing company that produces clothing, soft furnishings and other textiles-based products. Several large fashion and clothing retailers, design studios and consultancies, handloom cooperatives and buying agencies also recruit textile designers on a regular basis. They also have the choice of working with fashion designers or branching out independendy as designers or entrepreneurs.

Many designers also work for some of the above employers on a freelance basis, often through an agent. Working freelance provides a route into working full time for a design studio or fashion/ clothing retailer. With experience and good contacts, textile designers can eventually open their own business.

There are many opportunities in textile designing.Industrial and product designers usually get work opportunities in production and manufacturing companies and professional design studios. Communication and interaction designers work in fields like media industry, publishing and advertisement firms, and of late, in the IT industry. With a few years of experience, designers then have opportunities to get into design management and R&D.
