A number of multinational companies such as Novartis, Roche Group, Eli lilies, GSK, Pfizer Hoechst, E Merck and Smith Kline Beecham have offices in India, and offer many job options to qualified professionals. Indian companies such as Ranbaxy, Dr. Reddy Labs, Cipla, Zydus and Cadila also are major recruiters. A number of clinical research organizations have set up offices in India and are recruiting extensively.

In addition, most large pharmaceutical firms have research divisions requiring skilled manpower. Fresh postgraduates and Ph.Ds are recruited as analytical research scientists/associates or as product development research associates.

The Central Drug Research Institute (CDRI), Lucknow; National Chemical Laboratory, Pune; Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi; and the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad also employs researchers in this field.
