Master of Communication and Journalism (MCJ), Master of Journalism and Communication (MJQ, MA (Mass Communication), Master of Communication Studies (MCS), Master of Mass Communication (MMC), Master of Journalism and Mass Communication (MJMC) courses have been introduced by different universities / institutes for graduates. All these courses are good enough for entering into the journalistic profession.
Journalism or Mass Communication Master's degree courses are one of best higher study options for graduates of English Literature. The Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) is a leading institution offering quality education in the field of journalism. It is an IIMC is an autonomous body funded by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India. IIMC conducts the following courses - Post Graduate Diploma Course in Journalism (English). The duration of the course is one year from August to April. Graduates in any discipline are eligible for admission. Students appearing for the final year degree examination will also be considered. Course contents include communication - concepts and process, role of media and media research, history of the press, radio / TV, changes of radio, television and web media scenario, news gathering, reporting and editing, skills of practical journalism, radio programme production, anchoring for the radio, TV journalism - skills, tools and techniques, professional tasks at a TV news channel, Non-linear editing, scripting and TV anchoring, radio reporting, radio news programmes production, FM radio programme production and anchoring, TV studio production, etc. Graduates in any discipline are eligible for admission. The IIMC also offers a Post Graduate Diploma in Advertising and Public Relations in New Delhi. Any graduate is eligible for admission Admission to all these courses is based on an all India level entrance examination and interview. Duration of each course is one year. The admission notification can be expected during March every year. Hi Mutta,
For students who have pursued liberal arts and language at an undergraduate level, areas of Advertising and PR are also considered good options in addition to journalism. Apart from IIMC, you may want to apply to other reputed institutions such as The Delhi School of Communication which offer comprehensive communication programmes as also work experience during the course. The Delhi School of Communication (DSC), New Delhi invites application for 2 Year Post Graduate Diploma Programme in Communication and Dual degree in PGDPC and Masters in Mass Communication (MMC) commencing in the session 2012. Eligibility: Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized University.
