Inorder to apply for FLTA program, what eligibility is required?

* Be citizens of India and hold a valid Indian passport at the time of application. Persons applying for or holding permanent residence in the United States are not eligible. Fulbright fellows enter the U.S. on an exchange visitor (J-1) visa and are subject to the two-year home residence requirement associated with J-1 visa. Applicants must be residing in India throughout the application, nomination and selection process.
* FLTA applicants must be at least 21years old and no more than 29 years of age on October 1, 2011.
* Applicants must clearly demonstrate maturity, dependability, integrity and professionalism.
* Fluency in English is mandatory. A score of no less than 213 (CBT), 79-80 (IBT) or 550 (PBT) on the TOEFL is required.
* Candidates should possess the equivalent of a U.S. Bachelors degree with a good academic record. Indian applicants should have at least a Masters degree by June 2012.
* Applicants must be English language teachers at the college level or training to become English language teachers.
* Prior teaching experience is preferred.

-who are working on their Ph.D.s should have done
adequate research in the relevant field, especially in
the identification of resources in India and the U.S.
They should be registered for their Ph.D.s at an
Indian institution at least one year prior to the date
of application and should enclose a certificate from
their Ph.D. supervisor commenting on their research
work and the usefulness of the fellowship, and
indicating the Ph.D. registration date;
-who are professionals should have a master's degree
and substantive professional experience in the
proposed field;
-should apply through proper channel, if employed;
-should enclose a 'writing sample' which could be a
copy of an article or paper published/presented or
extracts from the M.Phil. thesis; and
-should preferably be 45 years of age or under.
