International students are permitted to work upto 20 hours per week during the session and full time during vacations. However, students are required to obtain working visa for this because they are not allowed to work on their initial student visa. You can apply for a working student visa after the beginning of your course. You also need to get a declaration from you education institution for this purpose. After you have a working student visa you need to obtained a Tax File Number (TFN) to work in Australia. TFN can be obtained through the Australian Tax Office. Students can work either on or off campus. Part-time jobs are usually obtained in retail industries and hospitality services.
