Need Career Guidance -Pls Help

Hi all,
I am new to this forum.....and dis s my first post.

I was working in a reputed IT firm as circuit design engineer -board design engineer for the past 6 years.Last feb i got sacked from the job as there werent any project for the past 1 year(recession effects).The openings are less for board engineers and i have personal reasons to stick to kerala as well.

Can somebody guide me on some software courses that can help me get a good starting salary...(my previous salary was 6 lakhs pa) and help me stay preferably @ kochi as well?

if not what else wud be suggested mtech/mba?
