BSc course requires completion of Class-12, with mathematics and science or biology and science.
The eligibility for a postgraduate degree in biotechnology is a graduation degree in science.
For Ph.D, you require a Masters degree in the field that you are interested in doing your research.
Students are admitted in different universities through an All India combined entrance examination, conducted by Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. Admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) is through the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) for the two-year/four-semester M. Tech courses and through Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) for the five-year integrated M.Tech courses in biochemical engineering and biotechnology. These entrance exams basically test the candidate's knowledge of subjects like biology, physics, chemistry and mathematics, together with an aptitude test.
Some institutes like National Dairy Research Institute, conduct their own examinations. A few institutes only have interviews as part of their admission process.
