The Fulbright Programme awards approximately 6,000 new grants annually. Currently, the Fulbright Programme operates in over 150 countries worldwide. More than 7,600 Indians have benefited from the Fulbright Programme. Each year about 200 Fulbright fellowships are awarded to Indian and American Scholars. The Fulbright Program is administered by bi national Fulbright Commissions in 51 countries and by the U.S. Embassies in 90 others. The Institute of International Education (IIE) and the Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES) assist in administering the Fulbright Scholar Program for students, faculty and professionals worldwide. The vitality and dynamism of the six decades of Fulbright Programmes prove the value of international exchange and people-to-people diplomacy in fostering greater understanding at the global level.
