GATE CSE Exam Pattern

The Salient features of the examination pattern of GATE Computer Science and Engineering are as follows

  • Duration of GATE CSE Exam: 180 Minutes (3 Hours)
  • Total Marks : 100
  • Total number of questions in GATE CSE Exam: 65
  • Sections in GATE CSE Exam
    • General Aptitude (10 Questions, 5 Questions with 1 Marks and 5 Questions with 2 marks-15 Marks)
    • Engineering Maths
    • CSE – Subject Specific questions
  • Question Types– 2 Types of Questions
    • MCQ- Need to select the correct answer from the given options
    • NAT- Numerical Answer Type- No options will be given, candidates need to enter the numerical answer
  • Marking Scheme: The questions will be carrying either 1 mark/ 2 marks
  • Negative Marking: In MCQ type questions, 1/3 Marks will be deducted for 1 mark question and 2/3 marks will be deducted for 2 mark question for incorrect answers. No Negative Marking for unattended questions. NAT type questions also don’t have negative marking
