SCERT has brought out new textbooks for classes 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 classes of Kerala syllabus schools. These textbooks are designed in accordance with the Kerala Curriculum Framework 2023. The Kerala Curriculum Framework 2023
The Kerala Curriculum Framework 2023 is a continuation and expansion of the Kerala Curriculum Framework 2007, part of the ongoing curriculum reforms in Kerala’s public education sector. Its primary goal is to build a knowledge society and create a new Kerala by preserving past achievements in school education while addressing contemporary needs.
The curriculum framework covers not only school education but also pre-primary education, teacher education, and adult education. These frameworks have been developed over a long period under the leadership of the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT). To draft position papers in various fields, 26 focus groups led by prominent education experts were formed. More than 3 million students participated in classroom discussions, addressing issues such as school study time, gender justice, vocational studies, examination reforms, the relevance of arts and sports education, and content load. An online platform has been provided for anyone globally to submit comments. SCERT has compiled and published these discussions in various books.
As schooling undergoes significant changes worldwide, the emergence of a knowledge society and economy has become a reality. The new curriculum framework aims to strengthen the Kerala model and address new era challenges, contributing to the creation of a New Kerala.
