Qualifications

M.Sc. in Development and Resource Economics

Admission Requirements ; Candidates should have at least a B.Sc. degree with 60% marks in aggregate in Agricultural Economics, Development Economics or Economics.

M.Sc. in Management of Natural resources and Sustainable Agriculture (MNRSA)

Admission Requirements : Candidates should have atleast a Bachelor's degree with 60% marks in aggregate in agriculture, biology, forestry, wildlife or in social sciences.  Professional experience of 2-3 years in resource planning and management is desirable.

M.Phil. in Social Change, Specialising in Geography

Admission requirements : Candidates should have atleast a B.A. degree in Geography with 60% marks in aggregate.  Candidates with B.A. in other Social Sciences with similar percentage of marks might also be considered for admission, if their first degree includes some subjects with the field of Geography.  Candidates must pass an English proficiency test (TOFEL, min. score 550 or IELTS, min. 6.0).

M.Sc. in Hydropower Development

Admission Requirements : Candidates should have atleast a B.Sc. degree with 60% marks in aggregate, in Civil engineering (such degree should be obtained not before 25.10.1991) or equivalent and 2-5 years experience from planning, design and/or construction of hydraulic works. Candidates holding M.Sc. degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent will not be considered.

M.Sc. in Petroleum Engineering/Petroleum Geosciences

Admission requirements : Candidates should have atleast a B.Sc. degree with 60% marks in aggregate, in Petroleum Geoscience or in Petroleum Engg.

Diploma/M.Phil. in Fisheries Biology and Fisheries Management

Admission requirement : Candidates must have a first degree or Bachelor of Science (preferably with honours) in biology with special knowledge in aquatic biology.  A strong background in mathematics and statistics in advisable and also some filed experience.  Candidates should have atleast 60% marks in aggregate in their degree.

M.Phil. in Gender and Development

Admission requirement : Candidates must have a Bachelor degree or its equivalent with atleast 60% marks including a concentration of course work corresponding to 1.5 years of full time study in a field or subject of specialisation relevant to gender and/or development issues.

M.Phil. in Health Sciences (International Health)

Admission requirements : Candidates should be graduates with atleast 60% marks in aggregate, from school of medicine or dentistry, or from disciplines such as public health, nursing, nutrition, human biology, medical technology, pharmacy, social and behavioural sciences and international health.

M.Phil. in Public Administration

Admission requirements : Candidates must have a University degree based on either (a) three year of studies or more from a recognised Non-Norwegian University or (b) Bachelor, Cand. mag.-degree or comparable degree recognised by the academic Collegium at the University of Bergen.  Candidate should have 60% or more marks in aggregate in their degree.

M.Phil. and Social Anthropology (with emphasis on Human Ecology)

Admission requirement : Candidates must have atleast Bachelor of Arts in Social Anthropology/Sociology with atleast 60% in aggregate.

M.Phil. in Comparative and International Education

Admission requirements : A Bachelor's degree or equivalent with atleast 60% marks in aggregate (at least three years beyond the Norwegian minimum requirements for matriculation) is required.

M.Phil. in International Community Health

Admission requirements : A Bachelor's degree or equivalent with 60% or more marks in aggregate is required.  English Language skills documented by either TOEFL test (min, 550 points) or IELTS band 6.0.

M.Phil. in Special Needs Education

Admission Requirement : A Bachelor's degree or equivalent with atleast 60% marks in Special Needs Education or other relevant subject or A qualified teacher's training certificate followed by a minimum of one year's full time university or college study in Special Needs Education.

M.Sc. in International Fisheries Management

Admission requirement : Candidates should have Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts or Cand.mag. degree or equivalent with atleast 60% marks in aggregate with in Biology/Ecology and/or Economics/Organisation/Law.  They must have knowledge Mathematics and Statistics corresponding to the University's introductory courses in these subjects.

Value/Passage Cost *

Centre for International University Co-operation (SIU) will pay a return air ticket from the fellows home country.

A monthly allowance sufficient to cover food, rent and other ordinary living expenses will be paid by the middle of each month.

An installation allowance equivalent to half a monthly fellowship allowance will be provided for deposit at the Student Campus, for warm clothing and extraordinary expenses.  Supplementary clothing must be covered from the regular monthly fellowship allowance.

While in Norway Fellows attending the international courses are insured against major costs of medical attention through the Norwegian National Health Insurance Scheme (Dental care is not included).  SIU covers accident and life insurance for all courses participants.

During the fellow's stay in Norway, SIU does not cover insurance against theft etc. when travelling outside Norway the fellow is not covered by SIU financed insurance.

SIU does not take responsibility for accidents or for the loss of the fellow's luggage or personal possessions on the journey to and from Norway.  The fellow is, therefore advised to take out insurance before leaving his/her home country.

Application Procedure

Typed application with attest copies of testimonials, programme of study, photograph and other documents should be submitted on plain paper (as per format notified) by prescribed date. Employed persons should send their applications duly sponsored. Advanced application may not be considered. Academic year starts form August every year.
