Tamil Nadu Board came into existence in the year 1910 and it was established as the separate authority under the Department of Education, Tamil Nadu. The Directorate of Government Examinations is in charge for conducting the Secondary School Leaving Certificate(SSLC) examination. Board has around 30,000+ schools affiliated to it. Its main responsibilities also include:
- Granting recognition’s to schools
- Preparing courses of study
- Prescribing syllabus
- Providing direction, support and leadership for all secondary educational institutions under its jurisdiction.
SSLC exams are very critical for a student as it acts as a stepping stone of a student’s career. The Board conducts Tamil Nadu 10th / SSLC exams at state-level every March and approximate 10 lac students appear for the board examination. The supplementary examinations are held in September/October the same year.
