Job evaluation is the output provided by job-analysis. Job analysis is the process of collecting all facts relating to the nature of a specific job through scientific observation and study. Job analysis describes the duties of a job, authority relationships, skills required, conditions of work etc. On the other hand, job  evaluation refers to the systematic technique of determining the relative worth of jobs with reference to amount of salary. Job evaluation uses the information in job analysis to evaluate each job—valuing its components and ascertaining relative job worth. Job evaluation involves a formal and systematic comparison of jobs in order to determine the worth of one job relative to another so that a wage or salary hierarchy results. So, job evaluation is a process by which jobs in an organisation are appraised.
