There are a wide variety of job opportunities open to food technologists. They can work in food manufacturing and processing plants, research and quality control laboratories, hotels, packaging units, distilleries, soft drink factories, spice, cereal and rice mills, etc. The areas of work can range from production and quality control to marketing and management, research and development.
Job opportunities as marketing and sales personnel, who are into promotion and marketing of products like ready-to-cook foods, nutritive beverages, health snacks etc.
Pharmaceutical companies, sugar-based industries, Pepsi, Dabur etc also recruit food technologists.
At the entry level, the salary could be anywhere between Rs 1.5—3 lakh per annum. After that, with relevant experience and expertise, it rises gradually.
