The job of an insurance surveyor is to assess the actual loss and avoid false claims filed by the insured, and at the same time, help the insured who has suffered a genuine loss by indemnification of the loss. They act as investigators/assessors for deterrruning the loss and liability to be reported to the insurance company.

Surveyors are not employees of an insurance firm, but rather independent professionals who are hired by insurance companies.
