UK’s University of Northampton invites applications for its Wastes Management courses
#1
The School of Science and Technology at University of Northampton, which is one of UK’s most prestigious institutions, has started inviting applications for its BSc (Hons) in Wastes Management and MSc Wastes Management courses. The University has a national reputation of excellence in the field of wastes management and has the largest library devoted to wastes management in the world.

The three year full time BSc (Hons) Wastes Management course (also available as a distance learning option) would provide students with a realistic opportunity to develop an understanding of the complexities of wastes management and pollution control based on scientific principles. It will help them in developing the means to apply their knowledge and skills to monitor, assess and manage wastes collection, treatment, disposal operations and pollution control strategies. The MSc Wastes Management has been specifically designed to meet the needs and demands of the modern wastes management industry. Delivered as a full-time one year programme, it aims to help students develop the critical, analytical skills associated with postgraduate training as well as acquiring a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the principles of wastes management, and be trained to undertake the research required to tackle environmental issues.

Students with a range of non-traditional educational or professional qualifications can apply for the BSc (Hons) programme. For the MSc course, applicants should possess a first or second class honours degree from a relevant recognized institution. That degree will normally be in a recognised environmental science discipline such as physical geography, biology, environmental chemistry, geology or a related area (including engineering). Those with degrees in other social science subjects including law will also be considered.

The programmes commence in September and the last date to apply is 31st July, 2012. The fee structure for the BSc (Hons) programme is £9100 and £9500 for the MSc (Hons) programme. For an application form for the courses, please visit www.northampton.ac.uk/international

The University has also introduced a four week interactive Study Skills Preparation Course that would help students bridge the gaps between their previous educational experiences and what is expected of them at an English University. They would also be familiarized with the cultural and linguistic adjustments that they would need to be a successful student at the University of Northampton.
