The University of Southampton’s Faculty of Humanities is inviting applications for its Film Studies undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses for September 2013 entry. The programme aims to teach students the latest developments in Film by world-class researchers and eminent published experts, in areas ranging from early film to contemporary Hollywood blockbusters.
Commenting on the programme, Prof. Tim Bergfelder (Head of Film Studies), said, “Film Studies has been taught in this University for almost thirty years, and our programmes have been consistently assessed in league tables as being among the best in the country in terms of the quality of our teaching and research, and particularly in terms of student support.â€

• MA in Film Studies (1 year full time) – this long-established course addresses a wide variety of film cultures, from Hollywood to European and non-Western modes of film-making. It gives a comprehensive education in the major theoretical approaches to the subject; one of the most distinctive features of the programme is its emphasis on transnational or global perspectives on cinema.
